About
Rack at Home is one person with a home lab that actually runs the stuff it writes about — and a rule: no guide gets published until it has been built on real hardware, with the real numbers written down.
Why this site exists
Most "self-host this in 5 minutes" guides were written by someone who never hit the third step. They skip the RAM it eats, the plan that costs more than the tutorial admits, and the port that does not actually work on the default setup. We keep a test bench, run every build end-to-end, and publish the boring measurements up front, in a box at the top of the page.
How we keep it honest
- Every article is stamped with the date it was tested.
- Every article carries a measured-fields box: setup time, resources, real monthly cost of the exact plan used, and pitfalls found.
- Affiliate links pay the hosting bills and are disclosed on every page that has one. Reviews are never for sale.
Who is behind it
Rack at Home is an anonymous brand on purpose — the site is about the builds, not the builder. The lab, the network and the person behind them stay private; what you get is the data.
